Harry Potter & Deathly hallows - Review

After the book has been sleeping in the trunk for more than a year, I finally got around to finishing the last book of the Harry Potter series. I know I am too old to call myself a Harry Potter fan but what can anybody do about it even if I do so.

The author has done justice to the readers by tying up all the loose ends that were there so far and thus satisfying the thirst of all the young readers. She has given the perfect twist though Harry staying alive is very much expected. All's well that end well works with the kids everytime. The way the friendship of the three kids Harry, Ron and Hermione was well portrayed and the young people have got a lot to learn from this series - friendship, love conquers all etc. Needless to say about the imagination where magic and using wands are considered. Probably that is the reason the series is a hit even with the grown ups.

Lastly, I am too sad that all this over and behind us. I am certainly looking forward to another such series. Till then, bye.

How To Make Flowers Last

The tips are:

  • Keep the flowers out of reach for children
  • Cut the stems on an angle to make sure the capillaries are wide open to take up water
  • Remove all leaves below the water line
  • Keep water in the vase
  • If there was no flower food packet included, add a crushed aspirin and some sugar to the water
  • When the flowers begin to fade, re-purpose the rest of the bouquet
The day after Valentine's Day, flower bouquets from sweethearts around the world begin to fade. A rose's vibrant red dulls to dried-out brown, and flowers begin to droop. Some say adding a citrus-flavored soda, such as 7-Up or Sprite, or an alcohol like vodka to the vase of water will lengthen the time these flowers remain beautiful. According to floriculturists, they are right; if the mixture of soda and water is in the correct proportion, a bouquet will remain bright, because the combination provides the flowers with the water and food they need.

My experience with Julie And Julia

Well I am talking about the book, not the movie though I am dying to watch the movie.

Well, the book is not a really a laugh out loud type but it definitely funny in it's own style, very very honest and the determination of Powell to complete the project is showcased beautifully. The book is a feast in itself if you love loads of butter and lard. The finale was touching and the thoughtful closure by paying a tribute to JC with a bar of Land-o-Lakes butter is beyond everything.

Well there is diappointment on the front where one comes across snippets from JC's life as they end abruptly and the best part of her life was left out.

All in all good work for a first time writer and good luck to your future, Powell.
